I always wrote what I wanted or needed to write and never compromised to make money or to “get published.” I listened to smart editors and tried what they suggested; I tried to be as honest as I could, and like most of the other best things that happened to and for me, I let go and stopped thinking that I couldn’t be happy “until and unless” and then, sure enough, the things I wanted did happen.
