I posted an ad on Craigslist and offered writing services for fifteen dollars per page. By Saturday morning, I received a few messages, mostly spam, but one of them, a college kid named Ji-hu, became my first client.
Ji-hu sent me a message asking for a sample of my writing, but lacking any academic papers, I rewrote one of my girlfriend’s old college papers and emailed it to him. Ji-hu messaged me back that day, and we arranged a meeting at a local coffee shop.
On my way to the coffee shop, I experienced a moment of hesitation, questioning the rationale and the ethics of my actions, recognizing some irrevocable nature of this decision. Life’s turning road gave me pause, something I had not felt since deciding to be a writer.
