As Americans we are brought up to believe crazy shit about ourselves. In truth we are NOT special, NOT number one, not freer than people living anywhere else when you look closely at what the word “freedom” means.  

One of our biggest myths is that we “’Mericans” are inventing everything that matters in life and that the world needs us to know what to think and how they should behave.  

Everything we’ve discussed in this book is about our self-delusions and about the worst of our abuses; “Home of the brave” “Proud to be an ‘Merican, cuz at least I know I’m FREE” “Bring home the gold Huck.” The shit just rolls on and on, reassuring us that everything is going well and that all will be well. It is neither.
