Portraits we must no longer ignore
Pretty much nobody likes clowns. At least, not in these hilarious times. Clowns started out in circuses coming from the tradition of court jesters, their nearest entertainment predecessors.
They existed for the amusement of the bored uber-wealthy who bought and sold humans, just like any other commodities or chattel, as their needs or fancies dictated. Clowns were supposed to lighten shit up a bit. You know, tickle your funny bone and what not.
