Welcome to Environmental Science 102 for Christians. I’m sure you’re all eager to learn how to defend your views against the “overwhelming evidence” of global warming, rising sea levels, melting ice caps, and extreme weather events. Don’t worry, I’m here to help you. After all, Christian Environmental Science knows best.
Okay, then. Let’s begin with the basics. What is anthropocentric thinking? Anyone?
Very good, Christians. Anthropocentric thinking is the belief that humans are the most important and valuable beings in the universe, and that everything else exists for our benefit and pleasure. How could anyone not realize the value of Christians since the Bible tells us God made everything for us? Now, let’s continue. What is biocentric thinking?”
Excellent! The actual scientific biocentric thinking definition states that living things have inherent worth and dignity, and that humans are not superior to other species, but rather part of a complex web of life.
Well, you said it best, young lady! We Christians know better than all the environmental scientists combined.
Now, can anyone tell me why anthropocentric thinking is better than biocentric thinking?
Thanks, Matt and Grand Wizard! You two have really shined today with those answers. Now, let’s see if the rest of the class can shine as brilliantly. Can anyone explain why it is better to think that humans are the center of everything, and nature is just a resource to be exploited?”
You are both correct! Any time you are exploiting the environment to do the Lord’s work, you are acting anthropocentrically, and that is good because you are fulfilling your purpose as God’s servants.
So let’s summarize what we learned so far today. Anthropocentric thinking is the view that humans are the most important and valuable beings in the world, and that everything else exists for their benefit. Since Christians are saved, we are the most important and valuable beings, and as the Bible tells us,
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26
And just like the the young lady aspiring to be a Mom of ten, which is her duty, God wants us Christians to fill the earth with babies,
And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
We have also learned the incorrect view of biocentric thinking which claims all living things have inherent value and deserve respect, regardless of their usefulness to humans.
What a load of nonsense!
Science would tell you, the difference between these two types of thinking has implications for how we treat the environment. Anthropocentric thinking may lead to exploitation, degradation and destruction of natural resources, as well as disregard for the rights and interests of other species. These so-called scientists would also claim biocentric thinking may lead to conservation, restoration and protection of the environment, as well as recognition of the interdependence and diversity of life on Earth.
Luckily, we have Christian Environmental Science, which tells us anthropocentric thinking is justified because humans have superior intelligence, creativity and morality, and that they have a responsibility to manage and use the environment for our benefit and survival — just as God expects us. Christian Science tells us that biocentric thinking is far less ethical because it respects the intrinsic worth of all living beings, and humans have a duty to care for and coexist with the environment in a sustainable and harmonious way when really we need to make babies, strip mine, burn fossil fuels, pollute the air and water, create greenhouse gases, cut down forests, pave over wetlands, and all the other advanced technological requirements God tells us to perform.
Do you really think God will allow a little pollution to harm you when you are doing his will?
Do you really think God will let you starve from killing too many animals or agriculture overproduction when Jesus already showed us he can make fish whenever we need them?
You see, it’s the nonChristians, the LGBTQIA+, the liberals, the Asians, and all the other forces of evil trying to pull you away from God’s Will with fear mongering about diseases, food and water shortages, climate change, and mass extinctions.
Luckily, you are Christians and know better. Christians know we are immune, invincible, and immortal through Jesus Christ. Environmentalism is all a hoax and conspiracy presented as fake news. Really it is a bad joke. Don’t let these environmentalist exaggerate a hot day and insult your intelligence. They are the enemy and the fools.
Clearly, you are smart Christians who know your science. I am dismissing the class and giving everyone an A+.
Have a nice day, and don’t forget to recycle. LOL! 🤣
I loved it but hate to say the “deplorables” won’t get it.
Excellent. Thanks.
